Company Overview:

Our client at Orange County Technical College is seeking to fill the Electrician Instructor position to educate and train high school students in electrical concepts, safety procedures, and hands-on applications in residential and commercial electrical work.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate shall have at least three (3) years of residential and commercial electrician experience , and hold a relevant journeyman license or equivalent certification . Prior teaching or training experience is preferred.

Work Hours: 8 am - 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday (Wednesday: 8 am - 1 pm)

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Position Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards for high school students.
• Instruct students on electrical theory, wiring, circuits, safety regulations, and hands-on installation techniques.
• Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, and materials used in the electrical trade.
• Supervise and evaluate students' hands-on projects and practical assessments.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and industry standards in the classroom and lab environments.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and evaluations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent PLUS three (3) years of experience in residential and commercial electrical work required; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties may also be qualifying.
• Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification preferred.
• Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring in a classroom or professional setting is a plus.
• Must complete the following upon hire: criminal history check and drug screen.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of electrical concepts and hands-on skills.
• Develop instructional materials and use technology in teaching.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ensure student safety and enforce proper safety procedures.
• Utilize computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and educational platforms for lesson planning and grading.
