Job Description

Project Scope:

• Aerospace project where the main responsibilities are developing, integrating, and documenting structural requirements to establish the system design. The role will involve guiding product design and verifying structural integrity using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle.

Team Size & Breakdown:

• Teams are already established, and these openings are put in place to help push the timelines for completion of the project up. The manager had referenced that this project is significantly behind, and the headcount openings are in place to speed up project completion.

High-Level Individual Duties:

• Create test plans and configurations, support test execution, and analyze/report test results to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Guide product design and verify structural integrity using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish the system design.
• Define and document certification and test results to substantiate compliance with customer and regulatory requirements (High focus on accuracy- Tier 3’s are expected to have 85-90% level of confidence with their tests).

Finite Element Analysis (FEM)

• NASTRAN-
• NASTRAN (NASA Structural Analysis) is a powerful finite element analysis (FEA) program originally developed for NASA in the late 1960s. It is widely used in the aerospace, automotive, and maritime industries to analyze the behavior of elastic structures of any size, shape, or purpose. NASTRAN helps engineers perform static, dynamic, and thermal analyses to ensure the structural integrity and performance of components.
• PATRAN is a pre- and post-processing software for FEA.
• It provides solid modeling, meshing, analysis setup, and post-processing capabilities for multiple solvers, including MSC NASTRAN, Marc, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, ANSYS, and Pam-Crash. PATRAN helps engineers create finite element models, set up simulations, and visualize analysis results.
• Together, NASTRAN and PATRAN are often used in tandem to perform comprehensive structural analyses, from model creation to result interpretation.

• CSW (Common Structures Workstation)- complete structural analysis tests and make recommendations to enhance efficiency or product effectiveness within Engineering Development
• Matlab is a comparable tool.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Previous aerospace companies highly preferred but would be open to other industries if person is a top performer.
• If candidate has the years of experience, get a good gauge on how quickly they would get up to speed. Customer needs someone that can hit the ground running.
