Responsibilities

River Oaks Hospital, located minutes outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a 126-bed psychiatric facility that has provided quality treatment to individuals suffering from  mental illness and/or  addictive disorders since 1970. Situated on a 14-acre campus, inpatient services are available for adults and adolescents. We also offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults.

The New Orleans Institute provides specialized services for the treatment of trauma and compulsive behaviors. The Eating Disorders Treatment Center offers a comprehensive program for male and female adults with anorexia, bulimia, and related eating disorders. Both the  New Orleans Institute and the  Eating Disorders Treatment Center are nationally recognized for their excellence. These programs receive referrals from around the United States and are acknowledged as leading centers in their respective fields.

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented  PATIENT ACCOUNT SPECIALIST I who Conducts various patient account duties while serving as the Collector in the Business Office, ensuring all collections are completed, ensuring all services are administered within hospital standards and guidelines; working cooperatively with other patient care personnel while maintaining a high level of quality service to all patients found within the scope of services. Performs all work in accordance with the mission, vision and values of River Oaks.

Job Duties may include but are not limited to :

  • Verifies insurance on all patients within one(1) business day of admit. (except weekend)
  • Inform intake staff of any changes with insurance plan codes
  • Send email to Utilization Review (UR), and Business Office Director on any changes in patient insurance information.
  • Verifies all demographics information entered by admin staff. Updates system as needed.
  • Document patients insurance benefits in system.
  • Documents patients responsibility (deductible and coinsurance) in system.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Business-related degree ot some college courses preferred.
  • One to three years’ experience with insurance plans and collecting while working in a hospital setting. Healthcare background preferred.
  • Must be computer proficient and have experience with Microsoft Office. Experience with AS400, MIDAS and other applicable software preferred.
  • Understanding of hospital business office policies and procedures and managed care contracts required.
