Job Description

Monson Savings Bank is currently seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator responsible for sourcing and originating mortgages, construction and home-improvement loans, managing customer relationships, and adhering to applicable state and federal regulations. The Mortgage Loan Originator will work closely with Realtors, Community Groups, and internal teammates within the Bank’s designated market area to drive business growth and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

This Non-exempt, Full-time position may work within the Loan & Operations Center located at 75 Post Office Park, Wilbraham, MA, and/or travel to meet with customers at various Monson Savings branch locations.

Some of the position responsibilities include:

• Maintain and originate residential mortgage loans through branch, realtor, and digital leads sourced from LOS/CRM tools.
• Establish a strong presence within the Bank’s real estate market, including developing relationships with realtors, community organizations, and internal business development teams.
• Maintain a schedule of regular field visits and outbound sales calls to centers of influence such as Realtors and Community Organizations.
• Participate in all aspects of the loan origination process including meeting with prospective applicants, counseling borrowers, taking loan applications, and ensuring that borrowers are adequately informed throughout each step of the life of the loan.
• Responsible for knowledge of and adherence to internal loan policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, secondary market products and guidelines as well as mortgage insurance programs.
• Responsible for ensuring that loans move quickly and efficiently from application to closing by working closely with other team members and providing courteous and cooperative assistance as needed.
• Responsible for compliance with regulations relating to mortgage products.

Qualifications: Preferred candidate has established connections to realtors within the greater Springfield, Hampden and Hampshire County area. NMLS licensed with thorough understanding of all residential lending practices and requirements, including FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, and state bond programs (i.e. MassHousing) and knowledge of local down payment assistance programs.

Minimum two years of mortgage lending/origination experience required. 

Skills: Customer service-oriented professional with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. General understanding of fair lending, with ability to read, comprehend and apply institution policies, procedures, and related lending materials. Must be adaptable, reliable, and possess the ability to work successfully both independently and in a team environment. Strong math abilities, computer literate, i.e., familiar with Windows environment, Excel spreadsheets, strong keyboard skills; ability to prioritize and manage time; ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities with strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
