LuckyGunner.com was founded in 2009 to revolutionize the way Americans buy ammunition online. Since then, we have grown into one of the internet’s largest ammunition retailers and one of America's most respected sources of firearms-related content.

Who we need :
We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to join our accounting team on a part-time basis.  We aren’t looking for someone to simply process vendor payments in our online banking account.  Rather, we need someone with top-level experience who can handle the complex accounting problems that are inherent in a large, nationwide e-commerce company.

The ideal bookkeeper is motivated, autonomous, and able to take control of projects and progress independently. He or she is interested in finding solutions to hard problems, is adept at working with technology, has previously worked in a large retail operation, and, perhaps most importantly, is a stickler for precision and error-free work.

We are only considering candidates who reside in Florida, Tennessee, or Texas.

The Bookkeeper's responsibilities :

The following is a non-exhaustive list of tasks the bookkeeper will be regularly expected to perform:

  • Maintaining day-to-day financial transaction records by posting transactions, reconciling, and ensuring legal compliance
  • Maintaining subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
  • Developing and implementing sound bookkeeping policies and procedures
  • Creating financial reports
  • Maintaining and balancing general ledgers
  • Processing accounts payable and receivable
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end book closings
  • Tracking fixed assets
  • Managing depreciation schedules
  • Performing inventory reconciliations
  • Preparing and filing state and local tax returns and accompanying records

Required Qualifications :

  • Prior experience working in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial operations
  • Honesty and discretion when working with sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience using TaxJar for sales tax filings

More about the role :
This role is for an independent contractor.  This will not be an employer-employee relationship. The bookkeeper will be generally free to set his or her own working hours and conditions.  That said, because of the nature of our business, he or she must generally be available for at least a few hours every weekday, with most of the work hours being during normal banking hours.

This role is part-time.  We expect the role to require an average of 20-25 hours per week once initial training is complete. 

This role is remote/work-from-home. However, there may be times when we need the bookkeeper to come to our office in Knoxville, Tennessee for meetings or training. 

Compensation :
Compensation will be based on experience and abilities, but we expect the general range to be $35.00 to $45.00 per hour.  As an independent contractor, this role is not eligible for any other benefits.
