Job Description

Frenchette Bakery at the Whitney is seeking an experienced Baristas with a passion for specialty coffee, a focus on hospitality and a love of baked goods to join our team.

We have a unique location inside the busteling Whitney Museum which makes for a fun and high volume envirronment. We work as a close knit and supportive team, we pride ourselves on being a true neighborhood spot, providing a welcoming and positive experience to all our guests. 

Our menu includes artisan breads, viennoiserie, sandwiches and pizz'ette, using high quality, locally sourced ingredients, and specialty coffee.

The ideal candidate must have experience in a similar role including - 
  • Acknowledge and positively engage all guests, displaying warmth and hospitality
  • Craft balanced quality espresso-based drinks using speciality coffee (Cafe Integral)
  • Ability to "dial in" espresso with experience on a La Marzocco (or equivalent espresso machine)
  • Consistently maintain high level quality control and ability to do latte art in a high volume environment
  • Consistently maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Accurately taking guest orders, making recommendations when appropriate, processing payments, preparing beverages and/or packaging orders in an efficient and friendly manner
  • A full understanding of all menu items and how each is properly prepared and packaged 
  • Strong communication and active listening skills to effectively deliver accurate messaging to both guests and team members
  • Ability to work within a team and a willingness to help each other
  • Maintain efficiency with a sense of urgency throughout service
  • Opening/closing duties and general cleaning duties
  • Maintain display and re-stocking stations as and when required
  • General understanding of Department of Health (DOH) food safety standards

At least 2+ years of barista experience, plus:

  • High level of customer service
  • Excellent work ethic
  • An ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Communicate effectively with managers and team members
  • Team oriented
  • Food Safety knowledge
  • Flexibility with schedule (Monday-Sunday, weekends required)
  • Part/Full time availability
  • Able to reach, bend and frequently lift between 5-15 lbs
  • Able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)
