Job Description

Position: General Manager

As the General Manager at Rehoboth Auto Repair, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our reliable and trustworthy general automotive repair shop. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the shop runs efficiently, that customer satisfaction remains high, and that employee engagement and performance are strong. You will lead and inspire a team of technicians and service advisors, manage business growth, and ensure that all operations align with the values of integrity and excellent service that have driven our success.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Manage all aspects of the daily shop operations, including customer and repair scheduling, staffing, and inventory control.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and profitability.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of technicians and service advisors, ensuring a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Lead regular team meetings to communicate goals, review performance, and address any issues or concerns.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure that customers receive excellent service and that their needs are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Handle escalated customer issues or complaints, providing timely and professional resolutions.

Financial Management:

  • Monitor budgets, control costs, and optimize shop profitability.
  • Track key performance metrics such as labor efficiency, parts matrix, and customer retention and estimate conversion.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring that parts and supplies are available to meet shop needs while minimizing costs.

Employee Ownership Culture:

  • Promote the employee-ownership model, ensuring that all staff understand and embrace their role in the success of the business.

Business Development:

  • Conduct market analysis and competitive research to position the shop as a leader in the local market.
  • Identify growth opportunities in collaboration with the president, implement strategic initiatives, and ensure that the shop continues to expand its customer base and service offerings.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure the shop complies with all local, state, and federal regulations related to auto repair and workplace safety.
  • Coordinate the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of shop equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure that all shop facilities and equipment are in good working order and compliant with safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of financial management and business growth in automotive repair or service environment
  • 10+ years of management experience in automotive repair or service environment
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems, repair processes, and industry best practices.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
  • Financial acumen, with experience in budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to foster a positive, team-oriented work culture.

1991, we have become THE auto repair shop in Rehoboth Beach, working on over 8000 job
tickets per year. In 2021, our shop buildings and equipment were upgraded and now we work
out of three buildings with air conditioning and heating.
